Are you a tourism operator or stakeholder and looking for an insider’s perspective on the tourism industry? Join us at the Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization’s (OHTO) virtual Annual General Meeting on Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. as we celebrate local success stories and inspire members to achieve tourism excellence in 2023 and beyond.

The AGM is a chance for members and non-members to see what we’ve been up to here at OHTO over the past year.  At the event attendees will learn more about OHTO’s Locally Inspired campaign and “Wander Sustainably” responsible tourism approach (and how you can adopt this mindset), have the opportunity to join the board of directors, and learn the value of being a member.

As a tourism operator or stakeholder, we know your time is valuable, which is why we’ve made this year’s AGM completely virtual (through Zoom) and kept it short and sweet. We want to provide you with valuable information about the direction for tourism in the coming year and inspiration for the future, and then send you on your way to do what you do best, welcome visitors.

Here are five reasons why you should register for this year’s AGM:

Connect with Tourism Leaders

Maybe you’ve heard of a few of the tourism leaders in the Ontario’s Highlands (RTO11) region, and would like to put a face to the name. This is your chance to connect with these folks, virtually. You will also have a chance to nominate yourself or someone you know to join OHTO’s Board of Directors for a one-year or three-year term. Find out more about how to do that here.

Be Inspired

When it comes to inspiration, OHTO is a pro. We work tirelessly to discover and capitalize new trends in tourism, to support our members, and to promote this region as one of the best places in Ontario to live and visit. Of course, we’re not alone – we work hand in hand with other tourism industry experts, business leaders, and stakeholders, and the stories we have to share will be worth a listen.

Learn More About OHTO Programs and Opportunities

Have you heard about the opportunities for funding from OHTO, or are thinking of participating in one of our ongoing programs like applying for Rainbow Registered accreditation or being a member of the Ride The Highlands, now celebrating its 10 Year Anniversary. Connect with us at the AGM and start your journey to work in partnership with OHTO.

Get Informed about Responsible Tourism

Pursuing sustainability will be key to excel in tourism now and into the future. Here at OHTO, we want to both welcome visitors to our region while also preserving its vast environmental resources and excellent and vibrant communities for generations to come. This is why OHTO is prioritizing sustainable initiatives and encouraging members to make their own commitment to sustainability, like committing to pursuing sustainability by signing the Sustainable Tourism 2030 Pledge, so we can all work together for a brighter future.
