This spring, Ontario’s Highlands is doing something a little different – we’re handing the storytelling over to nature.
Our newest marketing campaign, If Nature Had a Voice, invites us to imagine what our forests, rivers, lakes, and landscapes might say if they could speak, and what they might want visitors to hear.
This campaign is designed to not only inspire travelers, but also to mobilize the tourism industry to step forward as leaders in sustainable travel.
And here’s the best part: there’s a place for you in the story.
Why This Campaign Matters (and Why You Should Join In)
Sustainable tourism isn’t just a trend, it’s the future. Travelers are increasingly seeking out destinations that offer authentic, meaningful experiences, and they’re more aware than ever of the impact their visit can have on the places they explore.
If Nature Had a Voice taps directly into that mindset and brings our region’s natural beauty, cultural assets, and community values to the forefront.
By participating in the campaign, you will:
- Align your business with a values-driven campaign that resonates with today’s mindful traveler.
- Reach new audiences through digital advertising, influencer activations, and user-generated content shared on ComeWander.ca and OHTO’s social platforms.
- Help position Ontario’s Highlands as a leader in responsible tourism, with your business playing a central role.
Help Us Help Nature
This campaign isn’t just about marketing — it’s about mindset. It’s a chance for all of us in Ontario’s Highlands to come together and show what responsible tourism looks like when it’s done with heart.
Whether you offer a backcountry getaway, a forest walk, a bakery using local ingredients, or a shop that supports eco-friendly values — your story is part of nature’s story.
Let’s tell it together.
How You Can Participate
There are a few easy ways to get involved:
- Help Share Nature’s Story
Visit our If Nature Had a Voice industry campaign page to see what other tourism operators have to say about nature's story. Then, share your perspective on what nature would say if she had a voice, through social media posts or short-form video. Use the hashtag #IfNatureHadaVoice and #ComeWanderSustainably and be a sustainable tourism ambassador to help preserve our natural assets, strengthen our communities and celebrate nature. - Share Our Stories
A rising tide lifts all boats and if we all work together, we can ensure Ontario’s Highlands is the region visitors think of first when they consider sustainable tourism options. Visit the If Nature Had a Voice campaign page by clicking here to read OHTO’s stories for a consumer audience. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky, and X and share our stories within your own networks. - Launch Your Sustainable Journey
This is a good time to look closely at your own business and take action to ensure you are part of the future of sustainable tourism.
