Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization’s annual tourism conference and AGM, also known as the OH!Tourism Summit, is an annual gathering of movers and shakers from across Ontario’s Highlands. Tourism operators, industry leaders and community partners are invited to come together to network, share best practices and get re-acquainted after a busy summer tourism season.   The 2015 OHTourism Summit is being held October 26 & 27th at the Best Western Pembroke Inn & Conference Centre in the beautiful Ottawa Valley. This year’s event is being hosted in partnership with the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association.   The theme for #OHSUM2015 is "Igniting Tourism: Activating the Visitor Experience in Ontario's Highlands". This year’s line-up features engaging keynote speakers and workshops created specifically with our unique tourism landscape in mind. Delegates will learn what it means to ignite a spark within their visitors and how to engage with OHTO’s regional strategy to realize our tourism potential together.   We are thrilled to be able to bring keynote speaker Terry O’Reilly of CBC’s Under the Influence to this year’s summit. Terry will demonstrate, as only he can, that emotions matter in tourism marketing. Terry is a firm believer that by tapping into your visitors’ emotions, and their desire for a unique experience, you will stand out from the crowd and make the most of your marketing budget (big or small).   Following the first full day of programming and networking, conference delegates will be invited to an authentic Ottawa Valley experience. Join yer fellow tourism lads and lassies for an authentic toe-tapping night in the Valley featuring locally sourced food, drinks and entertainment!   To register for this exciting event, please click here.

Ends: Nov 5th, 2015 5:30 pm

Excitement is mounting for the upcoming 5th Annual Eastern Ontario Local Food Conference! ?#?EOLFC15? is our region’s annual conference bringing together stakeholders from all aspects of our local food system. This year’s hosts, the Cities of Quinte West and Belleville, have worked creatively to develop a dynamic event that will be the best one yet!

The momentum building in the Eastern Ontario local food system is not an accident. It is the result of years of hard work, creative ideas, and local food champions working together to make strong connections.

This year’s conference is the place to further cultivate that creative thinking, and to collaborate with others to learn, share, and network. Some new sessions will see not only our speakers, but our delegates sharing their knowledge and building solutions. Book time with mentors. Be swept away in a series of quick, idea-generating presentations that will be sure to spark creativity and energize.  And, be a part of round-table discussions and conversations that will move the bar, motivate, and create lasting connections. In short, this year’s conference will be a place of ACTION!

November 4th is a local food tour and reception, followed by a full agenda on November 5th, starting with our keynote speaker, Cory Van Groningen from VG Meats. Cory promises to inspire us all with his story of how creativity and collaboration have led to the continuous growth and evolution of VG Meats from its start in 1970 as a 3-room facility to  an integrated, thriving value chain enterprise.
