Greetings from the Chair!
Summer will be coming, I promise! Forecasts say it’s going to be a hot one (although given the snow two weeks ago, I still have my doubts!) But rain or shine, we’re confident that Ontario’s Highlands will be the destination of choice for increasing numbers of visitors this summer and beyond.
I’m very pleased to announce that April 30th marked the end of our first round of applications for the Tourism Development Partnership Program. And don’t worry if you missed the deadline – the next one is June 30th. I encourage all our members to think about how this program can help you grow your tourism business and strengthen tourism in your community.
As outlined in the Initiatives section of our site, “This program is designed to support a coordinated approach to tourism development with the communities within Ontario’s Highlands. The mandate of the Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization is to grow tourism through organizational development, destination development and marketing. Recognizing tourism development priorities and capacities vary throughout the region, this program aims to align community needs and provide financial incentives for projects able to demonstrate measurable tourism development outcomes within these three pillars.”
In other words, if you have a project that you feel would strengthen your tourism business or organization, enhance your community as a tourism destination, or build upon your marketing plans, talk to us! We may be able to provide matching funds for new initiatives that will accomplish these objectives.
Check out the guidelines and application form.
