OHTO’s Tourism Development Partnership Program

The Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization is pleased to announce the release of the 2013-2014 Tourism Development Partnership Program.  This program is designed to support a coordinated approach to tourism development with the communities within Ontario’s Highlands. The mandate of Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization is to grow tourism through organizational development, destination development and marketing.  Recognizing tourism development priorities and capacity vary throughout the region, this program aims to align community needs and provide financial incentives for projects able to demonstrate measurable tourism development outcomes within these three pillars.

The Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Development Partnership Program may fund projects including but not limited to:

Organizational Development

Projects within this category support capacity building for organizations responsible for tourism development in their local communities.  Sample projects may include:

  • Strategic planning, community engagement efforts, governance training, feasibility studies, and research projects

Destination Development

Strengthening the tourism experiences in Ontario’s Highlands is a critical element of tourism development.  Sample projects may include:

  • build on existing and introduce new tourism experiences that enhance the region’s diversity and competitive advantage
  • small-scale capital projects such as signage
  • itinerary development
  • festival and events

Cooperative advertising designed to reach Ontario’s Highlands target markets through the promotion of specific tourism experiences as outlined in the OHTO marketing strategy at www.ohto.ca.
