Fall in the Ontario's Highlands

The winner of our door prize, a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, was Sara Adams of Pinestone Resort, Conference Centre, Spa & Golf Course.

The Ontario’s Highlands Tourism Organization (OHTO) held their second annual AGM and Tourism Conference at the River’s Edge Golf and Country Club in Bancroft on Monday, October 29. The notable event, themed “Building Partnerships in Tourism”, welcomed over 100 active OHTO members and tourism industry stakeholders and marked the passing of another successful year in collaborative, regional tourism marketing and development. The OHTO had a great deal of inspiring news to share, a sneak peek at the upcoming experiential travel video series and details of partnership program opportunities.

Among presentations by OHTO staff, was the recognition of the first series of businesses to be granted designation under the OHTO’s industry leading customer service program, OHvation. Before presenting 19 businesses with their deserving OHvation certificates,  OHTO member Chris Hinsperger of Bonnechere Caves shared his personal experience with the OHvation program, offering insight on the overall value and rewarding benefits such as the mystery shop and resulting tactical recommendations.

Pictured below are 16 proud members of OHTO who were granted designation under the OHTO’s industry leading customer service program, OHvation.

“The coupon & gas card was a great incentive! Good mix of attendees and speakers too.”

“I heard some great ideas on advertising, drawing in visitors, and tactics for social media use. I also enjoyed finding out about what projects the OHTO has going on.”

“Besides meeting and networking with others in the tourism industry, the session reinforced the importance of the digital age, and provided us with assurance that we are going in the right direction.”

“Thanks to the question and answer portion I received a better understanding on membership, and using the website to update description and packaging opportunities.”

“I enjoyed hearing about the changes of the tourism industry and how future generations are going to travel. How to better engage with our customers, and the reminder that we need to think like the traveller, were both valuable lessons.”

“It was helpful to hear an update on what OHTO is doing, and to see how far they’ve come in a short period of time. I believe this is crucial for every AGM. The OHTO team that has been created seem very knowledgeable and keen to promote our region.”
